More info about where the money goes:

With the support of the NAMI Massachusetts board of directors, we have been successful in starting the In Our Own Voice program where peers are paid to tell their recovery story and in bringing NAMI Connection Support groups to Massachusetts. By supporting me and/or my team by walking on May 11th or soliciting donations on or offline you are helping the NAMI Greater Boston Consumer Affiliate Advocacy Network (NAMI GB CAN, www.namigbcan.org) to continue to grow and increase peer activity in Massachusetts.

Thanks for your support ~ Howard

Donating on my behalf through this page is easy, fast and secure.  It is also the most efficient way to sponsor NAMI GB-CAN and myself.  Any amount will make a difference for us but please try to give generously.

Here are updated logistics for the NAMI Walk. See below for info on shuttles and busses.

You can join our team or donate at www.namigbcan.org/walk. If you have difficulty, contact Jordan Ritchie or Karen Gromis at 781 938 4048. With the recent tragedies, donations to most major fundraisers such as the Walk for Hunger and NAMI Walk are way down.

Even if you can't physically be there, you can be a virtual walker. Checks are accepted until June 25th and online donations until July 11th. You are also encouraged to forward this email to your email and social media contacts.

Thank you for considering to participate in the NAMI Walk. Our website is www.namigbcan.org and our email is info@namigbcan.org and our phone number is (617) 626-8691.

The walk will take place at Artesani Park in Brighton, Soldiers Field Road. The walk officially starts at 11am but people get there as early at 9am when registration opens. We will be taking a group photo at our information tables at 10:30am, around 10:45am we will be going to NAMI MASS photo-taking area for another group photo.

We also have a tradition of going to the nearby IHOP after the walk for a group meal.

There will be free shuttle busses from Central Square Cambridge Red Line near the bank, the shuttle bus will say NAMI Walk. First bus leaves at 8:30am and last bus returns 1:45pm from Artesani Park.

DMH will have free busses leaving their facilities. Bus #1 departs the Solomon Carter Fuller, 85 E. Newton Street, Boston at 9:00am and then the Erich Lindemann, 25 Staniford Street, Boston at 9:30am

Bus #2 departs the Shattuck Hospital, JP at 9:00am and Mass Mental in Longwood Medical Area at 9:30am.

There will be free parking.

** RIDE EXCHANGE

Let us know if you can offer a ride or need a ride, we'll do the best we can to match people up.

We also will have free walk t-shirts for our walkers.

The funds you raise will help support our activities and programs and individual and systemic advocacy. You can raise funds even if you can't be at the walk both online at www.namigbcan.org/walk and through the enclosed paper brochure. You can join us or renew your membership at http://www.namigbcan.org/join.html

Checks you collect should be made payable to NAMI Massachusetts with NAMI GB CAN in the memo section. Cash you collect can be converted to a check or money order.

On walk day you also have the option of being with us at our information tables and be with friends and talking to people who visit us and/or actually walking!
